A new type of podcast focused on enforcement actions in the real estate industry
By Summer Goralik

Everyone and their mother has a podcast these days (my famous line).
But apparently, that includes me.
I think this next chapter with Troy Palmquist is going to be a fun one.
I met Troy many years ago when I still had a DRE badge on my hip (the badge was pretty cool… my encounters with Troy back then were probably less cool for him 😄). Later, we ended up working together on brokerage compliance—and I was always struck by how much he genuinely valued it. Not as an annoying obligation, but as part of building a solid, reputable business.
Troy is a brokerage leader and real estate industry veteran who understands what it actually takes to build and operate a successful firm.
On a more personal note, over the years Troy has been one of those people who consistently shows up. He’s supported me in my career, referred me other brokers and resources, introduced me to Inman News (do you remember that, Troy?), and has generally been someone who roots for others without needing anything in return. Troy is a good human. A good dude, if you will.
Listen—I hate being on camera. But I believe this will be for a good cause.
We’re ditching Zoom. We’re showing up in person. And together, we’re launching True Crimes of Real Estate: a podcast where we dissect real enforcement cases involving real estate licensees and real discipline.
As I’ve always told my clients, some of the best education in this industry is free. All you have to do is read enforcement actions. The lessons are there, you just have to be willing to look.
That’s what we’re doing. Breaking down cases, highlighting key takeaways, and helping spread those secondhand lessons....so others can get it right the first time.

🎬 Episode 1: “Trust Issues” is a case every broker + property manager should hear — a routine audit turned into $70,000 in trust account discrepancies and shortfalls. The compliance lessons are real.
Episode 1 to be released soon - - hope you all tune in!
