In the school of in-house escrows, California Department of Real Estate (DRE) audits are the final exams! Don’t wait to be audited (and potentially blind-sided) by the DRE, learn from Summer Goralik, a former DRE Investigator turned Real Estate Compliance Consultant, everything you need to know about DRE Audits; from what a DRE audit will cover, the best ways to prepare, all of the critical areas of compliance that will be evaluated, common problems and violations to avoid, and valuable tips to help you pass these regulatory inspections. Specifically, this class will cover the following topics:
Overview of DRE inspections; understanding the difference between broker office surveys and audits, their scopes and related process
Asking the right questions before, during, and after the audit
Identification of the items and records subject to DRE inspection
Suggestions on how to prepare your brokerage for a successful audit
Evaluating your compliance and tips on correcting regulatory issues
Understanding the DRE non-compliance summary and post-audit “to do” tips
Real-life enforcement stories from DRE investigations to prosecutions, and
TIPS geared towards successful DRE-defense.
Hours: 8:30 – 12:30
NOTE ABOUT CLASS: The class will focus on in-house escrow audits as well as all types of audits as there are baseline compliance requirements and evaluations that all brokers, regardless of activities performed, face when it comes to a CA DRE audit.
